Overview for the Divi and Elegant themes
Elegant Themes, the company that developed Divi, was founded more than 10 years ago. Your team members are spread all over the world. While Elegant Themes started creating themes for WordPress, they quickly developed Divi, an all-in-one solution for WordPress.
Originally, when Divi was launched, it wasn’t original, the creators of the sites have been working on it for a while. But Divi has brought an outrageous elegance to the page community. It was another product that offered so many customisation possibilities that most things on the market could not be matched.
Then you properly supported the Elegant Themes and had a product on which many people built their business and could live on. This is no small feat for any software on the WordPress platform.
It’s one thing to spend $49 on an annual license or to buy something you might need, but Divi has really taken a big step forward. The community has grown, and with it the problems.
Divi and Elegant Themes have never been bad from my point of view, but I’ve had a lot of problems that I think were caused by people who don’t necessarily know the competition on the market.
Here are the reasons why Divi was chosen and why there might be better alternatives.
How Diviworks
Divi, like many other page builders in the WordPress market, has a visual builder and a back-end builder. Divi 1.0 was quite revolutionary in the sense that the manufacturer was very advanced at the time. When Elegant released Themes Divi, it was awkward, but it worked.
Elegant Themes has quickly established itself as a company that upgrades quickly and puts new features on Divi much faster than other companies. This causes great problems, but in the meantime the community has loved and rejoiced.
It didn’t take long before Divi quickly became number one of the most popular page builders. It was at this time that people noticed the cracks in Divi’s work.
Divi works in the same way as many other page builders, with the back (which was the industry standard) and now the new front, which is more visual. To follow things like Wix or Squarespace, Divi has developed a front-end editor that now makes everything possible, from animations to Z indexing.
Beginners in website design will find a selection of modules on the Divi website that cover many situations. In fact, some would say it’s a software drop. Divi has trouble finding a balance between being a developer and doing web design.
Nevertheless, Divi has the same functionality as Elementor or Beaver Builder, with some improvements over time such as dynamic content, animations and even things like experimental CSS that doesn’t work in all browsers.
Why progress with Divi has become a problem
alt=Divi progression has become a problem width=1024 elevation=427 data-ezsrc=http://server.digimetriq.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Divi-by-Elegant-Themes-Review-2020.jpg data-ez= />
At one point Divi and Elegant Themes started to choke on the number of support tickets. People flooded the forum with tons of complaints about the fact that they sometimes had to wait two weeks until their message was read by the staff of Elegant Themes Support. This growth has led to enormous difficulties which would have required the recruitment of additional staff.
So far, Elegant Themes has recovered fairly quickly and could change the support structure, resulting in a much better experience. Already now, Elegant Themes offers one of the best support structures of any page builder on the market, thanks to two facts: Learn from their mistakes and their content.
The number of content creators that contributed to Divi is enormous. In fact, I would say that there’s probably no problem that someone wrote about Divi or made a video. There are people who have simply dedicated their entire lives to building Divi sites.
Although this seems a good thing, there is another side to the coin, namely that so many updates means tons of broken pages with each update. Divi is known as one of the creators of pages with the worst tests for updates and compatibility with other plugins. They do not have a good track record of ensuring that their updates are stable and working properly.
Add to that the fact that Divi made huge promises that never came true, and you have a recipe for disappointment. The headers and footers are examples. Although this feature is present in most page builders nowadays, such as Elementor and Oxygen, Divi doesn’t have it yet.
The problem is not that Divi does not have the characteristics of other manufacturers, it is that a promise was made long ago and to this day has not been fulfilled. If you add fuel to the fire to ensure that the creators of sites like Oxygen and Brizy, which are relatively new in the game, already have these features, you have a big problem.
Another thing Divi’s struggled with is plugin bloat. In WordPress, speed is a constant problem because people overload their sites with too many plugins or, even worse, plugins that are not properly optimized. I wouldn’t go as far as to say they don’t optimize Divi, but it’s not as close as it could be.
Oxygen has done a speed test, which you can see here and a few others. I’ve done independent tests and Divi is in each of them for the last time, including speed; it takes a lot of tuning to make sure your site works fast.
But having said that, you’re still interested in things like testing one manufacturer against another. Take a look below to see how Divi compares to other manufacturers on the market.
Divi versus Elementary
alt=element width=772 height=250 data-ezsrc=http://server.digimetriq.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Divi-by-Elegant-Themes-Review-2020.png data-ez= />
From my point of view, the biggest threat to Divi Elemental, which has so many supporters, was and is Elemental. Not to mention the fact that Elementor has reacted with the emergence of newcomers such as Oxygen and Brizy, with similar or equivalent properties.
The things that really power Elementor are things like the pop-up builder, the head and footer builder and the amazing control animations. Divi also has great animation capabilities, but Elementor has really made sure the animations are light and don’t disturb the user experience like Divi, who continues to add the builder’s bloatedness.
One point where the Elemental doesn’t win is the prize. Divi is a long-term builder who can get a permit for life. Other manufacturers complain that it is a sub-optimal way to do business, but Divi survived without any problems. In fact, Divi has only grown over the years.
However, a lifetime license makes a difference for lower level designers who may not charge that much for the site. Elementor is not budding and has just announced that it will limit the unlimited licenses to 1000 sites. This makes some people tremble, because the themes of Elegance seem incoherent and give people unlimited freedom.
The other area where Divi is really better than Elementor is the number of third party additions, for which Divi has a huge market. There are so many add-ons to Divi that it’s almost unbelievable. This generates your own micromarket, which you sell successfully. Elementary doesn’t have many ways to keep up.
With all this in mind, Divi is the ideal solution for companies that prefer to pay for an unlimited license and manage their website without hiring a designer. So if you want to make a DYI website, you can choose Divi, and I can’t say there are much worse alternatives.
Overall, I would prefer Elementor because it is better optimized and offers you a decent price. It’s very expensive, but frankly, it’s not that expensive. I vote for Elementor until Divi does two things: first, improving the above encoding problems, and second, adding a header and footer.
Divi v. Oxygen generator
alt=Builder width oxygen=1024 height=476 data-ezsrc=http://server.digimetriq.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/1608620832_842_Divi-by-Elegant-Themes-Review-2020.png data-ez= />.
Oxygen is a manufacturer that has made a name for itself by emphasising the shortcomings of the current page builder market. Of course, the team behind Oxygen is much smaller than the Elegant Themes team, but they have created several plugins that some people in the WordPress community would find important.
Divi’s support has an advantage over Oxygen’s much smaller offer when it comes to how quickly you can get help and what they can help you with. Yet Oxygen’s support is by no means terrible, but it seems to be a much smaller product than Divis.
The other thing that Divi really fails in my eyes is the code bloat and his poor performance in the speed tests. Louis has made special videos with all the questions, and Elegant Themes hasn’t answered them yet. Clearly, Louis knows his product, and he punctures holes in Divi’s offering by pointing out non-codifiable problems.
One of the things Divi misses is the fact that everything is controlled visually or by cursers, which is not a bad thing. But Oxygen clearly knows that it is a page creation tool for developers. You can use it even if you’re not a developer, but it’s easy to get lost. Divi is facing an identity crisis, not knowing whether she wants to be a Square or a Page Builder.
Price is another point where I think Divi has an advantage, as described above. Oxygène has said several times that the unlimited price will be reduced, and once that is the case, it will probably follow the same plan as Elementor. This makes the Divi a much more attractive proposition, regardless of the pricing issues mentioned above. We don’t know yet what oxygen will provide in terms of price, but I’m excited.
In a Divi vs. Oxygen battle, I should give Divi the advantage for people who are less familiar with the code, and for people who are pure web designers, I strongly recommend to stay away from Divi, he is too bloated and has too many problems. However, I would never give an Oxygen site to someone who wants to refine their own design, because it’s just a much more complicated process than what Divi offers.
Divi v. Breeze
alt=Fuzzy page builder width=1024 height=481 data-ezsrc=http://server.digimetriq.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/1608620833_232_Divi-by-Elegant-Themes-Review-2020.jpg data-ez= />
Brizy is relatively new in the game, because it hardly had a chance to become a real page maker. The community behind Brizy looks a lot less like Oxygens, but I consider it a small part of what Oxygens has. The problems regarding the Brizy Pest updates are similar to Divi’s, so they’re on the same level.
In terms of price, Brizy has the same problem as Oxygen, since the plugin is in beta, it is difficult to determine how competitive they will be with their product. So both offer lifetime licenses, but this is not always the case.
From a web designer’s point of view, my biggest complaint is the lack of Builder updates. Even if it seems that they are constantly being pushed aside, you will find that many days go by without knowing what is going to happen. The company pulled out the exit card and then bounced from project to project, even adding new projects.
This fact alone suggests that the company is struggling to find a market to compete with powertrains such as Divi or Elementor. It is one of the easiest fights in the series, because I am far from finished with the production of their plugin, which is not a beta product in my book Bryzy.
So I have no problem recommending the version Divi made on Brizzy. Divi still has the same problems with broken patches, etc., but you can’t say no to the community, the support and the price is as good as what Brizy offers. Bryzy’s UX/UI is excellent, but it barely surpasses all the other features that make Divi what he is.
The future of Divi in WordPress
alt= future divi width WordPress=1024 height=427 data-ezsrc=http://server.digimetriq.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/1608620834_129_Divi-by-Elegant-Themes-Review-2020.jpg data-ez= />
It’s hard to imagine that Divi could ever fail or even change her current offer because she does what works. But watch the competition and say to yourself: Why are you late? The point is, the leader doesn’t always have to be the leader of the pack.
Just as Divi has fallen from the cloak of the King of Wise Men (at least in my eyes), others will rise up and fall into the same trap. Divi has a reason to compensate, because they lost a lot of what made the quality of the original, but it could happen.
I advise everyone involved in the management of the Elegant Theme to open their ears to the community. Too many people know that your plugin is inflated and has too many problems. You have to solve these problems and keep two promises. Don’t put something on video that still hasn’t happened a year later in the case of the main and bottom builder.
Divi is far from off the beaten track when it comes to WordPress or page creators. A lot of people will say I’m wrong, and all complaints are probably super-fiscal, but the public has spoken out. I would never discourage anyone from buying Divi, it’s a decent product. But as decent as can be, Elementor is an excellent product. If I have a choice and I have it, why should I buy a decent product and not a better one?

Why are Divi’s prices so good? I’m not sure what the answer is. It’s the one place Elegant Themes never made a mistake. They stick to their prices and it works and it shows because Divi never slows down. From a commercial point of view they seem to be much more stable than others on the market for pages of the craft. Like others, Divi has made a name for itself and still offers very flexible and stable possibilities for those who want to build a website.
You keep saying Divi’s swollen, can you explain why that’s important? Google has taken a very strict attitude towards websites that provide a bad experience for the end user. Although Divi doesn’t offer this at all, you don’t have to look far to notice that it’s very difficult to have a Divi site that gives negative results in speed tests. The longer it takes to load a page, the more Google clicks there are in the SERPs. And even if some people don’t care, they should. Because Divi usually puts things on the page that aren’t even there, it’s hard to say it isn’t inflated.
Who do you think Divy would fit? As mentioned above, Divi is the product for you if you don’t want to hire a designer. It is one of the simplest interfaces, with many options without the need to know a single line of code. You can easily move the sliders and change what you want via their interface. The width of the support makes it a good choice for companies of all shapes and sizes.
How do you see Divi’s future? Honestly, it’s mediocre for Divi. The team behind this project continues to update the mass builder, but we haven’t seen any major changes that could shake the foundation of Divi. Divi 4.0 was actually just an update to make sure the manufacturer had the headers and footers that other manufacturers have had for a long time.
Completion
I hope you enjoyed Divi’s report. Although we haven’t studied the operation of the program, I doubt you’ll have trouble finding information about it. If Divi makes any changes, we will update this report to show what they have corrected.
Divi’s not on my side with things like Elementor and even Oxygen. But it’s one of the biggest on the market for people to use. I would describe Divi as a builder of medium-sized construction sites, but due to a lack of interest in the competition, it has dropped considerably if you look at what the newer builders of construction sites offer.
